
Malaga is home to Malaga International Airport where you will most likely
arrive if you are visiting the Costa del Sol.
Malaga is the 5th largest city in Spain and the largest on the Costa del Sol,
with its population of about 600,000 people. Malaga is both a modern
business centre of the South and a typical Andalucian city with its relaxed
atmosphere.
There are a number of cultural attractions in Malaga including La Manquita,
one of Spains’ great Cathedrals and the Casa Natal de Picasso, the house
where Picasso was born.
Malaga is best known internationally for its nice weather, attractive beaches
and many international golf courses. With more than 300 days of sun per
year, the Costa del Sol is one of the most popular tourist destinations in
Spain. Just 20 minutes West of the centre of Malaga you find other popular
tourist destinations like Marbella, Torremolinos, Mijas Costa, Fuengirola and
Benalmadena.
The best way to get around is to use one of the many car hire firms and hire
a car for a few days. alternatively to get around the city centre you can hire a
Segway or take one of their excellent tours.
Malaga City has a great variety of restaurants where you can sample the
local speciality of small fried fish, bars and bodegas (a pub or type of wine
bar where you can try the local Malaga wine directly from the barrel). The
people living in Malaga love going out for drinks, a chat, or for partying, and
the city center gets crowded every night of the week.
Apart from Malaga center, you can discover some of the biggest and most
popular pubs and discotheques in Spain in the nearby tourist areas of the
Costa del Sol (1/2 hour away by bus).
